For almost 5 years Pastor Brad Blackmon has been our very capable and hard-working youth pastor. He has led with great success! Pastor Brad, Beth, Noah, and Ruthie have taken a place in our hearts that will never be filled by anyone else. They are a precious and special family. It is with a sense of loss, but with great prayers and wishes for success that we send them off to Brooklet First Baptist Church. We know that God has prepared them for a successful and rewarding pastorate. We are glad that Pastor Brad will not be far away and that we can still have fellowship with him from time to time.
Brad, thanks for all the hard work and the time, effort, and love with which you led our Youth Ministry at Trinity. Thanks to Beth for being such a great pastor’s wife and for being a great counselor and friend to our youth. May the days and years you spend at Brooklet in the Lord’s ministry be multiplied greatly with souls won for the Kingdom of our Christ.
Everyone is invited to a special reception in honor of the Blackmons to be held on Sunday, August 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center.

Change of Regular Scheduling - Father's Day
Released: 3 June 2009 - 8:00 AM
It’s been quite a while since I last “blogged” but I have a few things to say concerning events (both past and future). First, let me say that God has been quite busy blessing us at Trinity the first five months of 2009. With new members, new and improved ministries, great opportunities for outreach and an ever-increasing enlargement of vision and evangelism, Trinity continues to grow and minister to more and more in the name of our Lord.
Our Easter Drama was more dynamic and more touching than ever. What a wonderful ministry of our Music and Drama Departments! Over one hundred of our congregation participated in presenting the story of Easter to a full house on two evenings. Next year we may add a third presentation during the week to allow even more to attend this very special presentation of the life, sacrifice, and resurrection of our Savior. Thanks to all who allowed the Lord to use you in such a meaningful way.
Nearly a thousand young people (of all ages) showed up for the concert by Big Daddy Weave. The success of this first event already has us planning for similar events to come. Thanks to all the ushers, security, and other volunteers who worked hard to make this event a success. The volunteers at Trinity are a unique and special part of the ministries of our Church. You are to be commended for doing such a superb job.
ON THE HORIZON: Many church-wide, special events are now being promoted. Two of them are in the immediate future.
On July 5th we will have a special

2009 has gotten off to a great start! After the extremely busy Christmas season, we thought we would slow down a bit and take a break. Well, we didn’t! We hit 2009 running and things couldn’t be better. I can’t cover everything that’s happened but I would like to say a very special thanks to all who made the WILD GAME SUPPER and GOSPEL CONCERT such a great success.
The largest crowd ever enjoyed all kinds of “exotic” dishes—from raccoon to frog legs—and a little chicken thrown in for those whose appetite couldn’t “stomach” the exotic.
Following the supper we enjoyed a dynamic concert by the Premiere Quartet and the Down East Boys. The house was packed and the Lord really blessed the gathering. These two quartets consists of some of the most dedicated and talented men in the ministry. We look forward to having both groups back again.
All kinds of good things are coming up! Friend Day (February 22) and FIREPROOF (March 1) and Crown Financial Ministries (March 1) and our fantastic EASTER DRAMA, presented by the Drama and Music Ministries (April 3 and 5) all promise to be informative, exciting, and valuable means of worshiping and growing in Christ!

SPECIAL BLOG FROM PASTOR JOE EASON
Released: 26 November 2008 - 8:00 AM
November and December are two favorite months at Trinity. The air is full of excitement and the entire Church is abuzz with activities.
We started November with Homecoming. This Homecoming was the best ever. What a great day! The church was packed, the people were excited, the choir sang the sweetest music this side of Heaven, John Arnold (a former member) returned and sang one of my favorites, and everyone enjoyed the noon meal. Our only disappointment was that Dr. Michael Guido was unable to preach due to illness. We have given Dr. Guido a standing invitation to preach at Trinity any time his health will allow. Please pray for Dr. Michael and Mrs. Audrey that their health will improve. God continues to use them greatly!
Thanksgiving is going to be a great day of service and celebration. We have so much to be thankful for as a church family. God is so good and He has blessed us beyond measure.
Then, we enter the Christmas season. What a great period of celebration we are going to be going through. Every Sunday we will be celebrating as one of our ministries presents a program each Sunday Evening. It will all begin with our good friends, The Specks, joining the Trinity Sanctuary Choir on WEDNESDAY, December 3 as they, together, perform his new Christmas musical THE NAME—JESUS. Visit our website and see all the good things that are going to take place during the Thanksgiving/Christmas Season.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a special “Thanks” to the greatest staff in the world. Our staff at Trinity are committed servants of our Saviour and each of them does a wonderful service that goes beyond the ordinary. Brad Blackmon (Minister to Youth), Nancy Kent (Minister of Music), Regina Miles (Financial Secretary), Nancy Eason (Reception/ Drama), Marty Glisson (Campus Management), Joseph Eason (Business Administrator), Carolyn Fitzgerald (Nursery Coordinator), Kim Hill (Food Services Coordinator), Dee Hudson (Assistant Nursery Coordinator), Sean Kent (Media/Production Specialist), Brian Fitzgerald (Cemetery Maintenance), Fran Faulkner (Nursery Staff), and Whitney Halverson (Nursery Staff)--All our staff work tirelessly and with great purpose to excel in their God-given ministries. I am proud of you and I thank our Lord for you each and every day.
Update: November's Church Business Meeting
Released: 20 November 2008 - 4:00 PM
The Church met in a regular session of Conference on Sunday, November 16 to discuss the business matters on the Business Session Agenda. In addition, several ministry and departmental program reports were presented by ministry leaders and departmental directors.
Mr. C.J. Williams, Trinity's Chairman of Deacons, presented a proposal for The Church Budget for Fiscal Year 2009 which had been compiled from all of the various church departments by the Office of Finance. Members present at the meeting were provided a copy of the proposal, and the proposal was approved as presented by unanimous consent of The Church. Church members may pickup a copy of the Official Church Budget for Fiscal Year 2009 from the Office of Finance which will be in effect on January 1, 2009. (To learn more about The Church Budget process at Trinity and the importance of The Church Budget & Mission Plan for FY2009, please visit the Office of Finance webpage.)
A report by Patricia Hunter was also part of the Conference Agenda's New Business as she recently concluded a procedural audit on behalf of the Office of Finance. Mrs. Hunter reported on the process of the procedural audit in which she conducted and a brief overview of the findings. (A detailed report had already been presented to the Office of Finance, the Senior Pastor, and the Church Deacons.)
Mrs. Hunter's thorough examination of the church's financial procedures provided the Office of Finance with recommendations that will help in the recording and reporting responsibilities of the Office. In addition, Mrs. Hunter's services supported the views of the Office of Finance relating to donor advised funds and verified compliance with new banking, legal, and IRS laws and regulations.
The Office of Finance will continue to retain the services of Mrs. Hunter as her expertise and independent evaluation is extremely valuable to The Church. Mrs. Hunter's impartiality will continue to validate the integrity of the church business office.
A very special thank you is extended to Patricia Hunter for her detailed inspection throughout the procedural audit. Further, thank you very much to Regina Miles (Manager of Business Operations), Marie Waters (Church Treasurer), and Joseph Eason (Business Administrator/Budget Director) for their expertise and knowledge of the necessary business practices required and for their service in the financial operations of the Church. Thank you for working after hours and on weekends to complete this year's audit!
Note: Mrs. Patricia Hunter is an independent CPA and partner in the firm of Reddick, Riggs, Hunter, & Kennedy PC in Statesboro, Georgia.
IMPORTANT: If you should have any questions concerning the procedural audit, you should contact the Office of Finance or a Church Deacon. Mrs. Hunter will not be able to answer further questions at this time as her completed report has been delivered to the responsible parties.

Fall Festival and Country Jamboree—Best Ever!
Thanks to all the hard work of many different people, the 2008 Fall Festival was filled with fun, laughter, and just plain good times. The best attended ever, the campus was full of children, teens, and adults enjoying the beautiful weather, rides, games, apple-bobbing, slide—and of course, the Country show. An estimated 600 people showed up for either or both events. Thanks, especially, to Angel Cribbs for putting the children’s festival together. You did a great job, Angel! Thanks to Nancy Eason for producing the Country Jamboree (which was the best ever). Both Angel and Nancy had a great number of excited helpers who worked hard to see that everyone had a good afternoon and evening. We can’t wait until the Next Year!

Contributing to Debt Reduction - (July 2008 Church Conference)
Released 28 July 2008 - 8:00 AM
During a regular session of Church Conference held in July (Session 7, 2008), a recognized church member, presented a motion to The Church regarding the church note and the desire to allow donors to give toward the note's balance. The member expressed that from time to time individuals may wish to give an offering, a gift over one's tithe, to reduce the debt of the church. After some discussion and on the advice of the Office of Finance (in review of The Church policy, church law, and IRS regulations), the motion was called to a vote in which it passed unanimously.
Remarks from the Office of Finance: The Church constitution does not allow for individuals to earmark donations for specific purposes on a non-ending basis. As required by the IRS, [IRC 501(c)3, USC 26 CFR, Section 1.6033-2(h)] and in review of IRS publication 526 concerning donor advised funds, The Church shall have exclusive legal control over any and all assets contributed to The Church at any and all times. Accordingly, the Church Treasurer will make a motion at each Church Conference to designate all contributions marked as "Debt Reduction" for payment directly to the existing church debt. This simple process will allow contributors to claim tax credits and will continue the long tradition at Trinity in allowing The Church to decide on the disbursement of church monies.
While Trinity has always paid beyond the obligations and above the required monthly payments on The Church Debt through the process of The Church Budget, giving to reduce the debt of the church is a unique way to give in honor of someone special in your life, as a memorial of a friend or family member, or as a "thank you" to God. We encourage you to always give generously.
IMPORTANT: If at any time you would like to make a special gift to Trinity and recommend it to be used toward The Church Debt, simply pick-up a "Debt Reduction" envelope from the breezeway, lobby, or church office and place your check in the offering plate during Sunday's morning service. If you would like to give on a regular basis, we will be glad to send a supply of the special envelopes to you by mail, simply call the Office of Finance on (912) 839-2599, ext. 20, or click here to order envelopes online. Your contributions are fully tax-deductible. Please be certain to always use the special giving envelopes to reduce errors in posting and so that we can service your request properly.
The Office of Finance thanks all of the church members who took time to ask questions concerning The Church Debt in Church Conference. We realize that you have entrusted us to give accurate and up-to-date information concerning certain laws and regulations and how they apply to Trinity Baptist Church. We are committed to providing you with the important details you need to make personal decisions about your contributions to the church. If you ever should have a question about financial matters at Trinity, such as The Church Debt or your contributions, simply pick-up a phone or email us, so that we can get you accurate information. Please realize that if you should receive information from other sources, even other church members, it may not be accurate. Why not take time to find out the correct answers to your questions? Trinity is an excellent body of Christians and a thoughtful people and the Office of Finance is thankful to be of service on your behalf. We are very thankful that Trinity's business meetings are a place for people to learn and to find out how the church is operated. It is always good to see Trinity's community of believers at Church Conference doing the Lord's work with great attitude and excitement.
Let's just make sure you know...
1) Your gifts to Trinity are always tax-deductible unless the church does not have exclusive control of its use, and/or if goods or services were given in exchange for it. If you give and recommend your contribution to be applied directly to Debt Reduction, you may claim a deduction.
2) Trinity pays both the interest and principal on its loan. Trinity's note is not an interest-only loan. In fact, The Church approved to pay on the note's interest and principal along with an additional $1200 per month (fiscal year budget 2008). Anything given to Debt Reduction and approved by the church, will be added to the amount budgeted for the retirement of debt.

Notice of Church Procedural Audit - (July 2008 Church Conference)
Released 21 July 2008 - 4:00 PM
Pastor Joe Eason informed The Church that a procedural audit on church financial policies and procedures is now in process. Marie Waters, Church Treasurer, advised The Church that randomly selected donors will receive a letter by the auditor with a return envelope concerning the accuracy of personal Contribution Statements issued annually by the Office of Finance. Should you receive a letter from the auditor, please honor the request of the auditor as quickly as possible.
Independence Day Notice
Released: 27 June 2008 - 4:00 PM
In response to Father's Day, Church Conference-- Trinity's Monthly Business Meeting-- will be held on Sunday, June 22.
Please note this is a change in scheduling, and Conference will not be held on Sunday, June 15 as previously planned.
In response to Father's Day, there will be NO afternoon programs or evening worship services Sunday, June 15.
Sunday School and Morning Celebration Services will be held as scheduled.
On the recommedation of the Pastor and Church Deacons, Mr. C.J. Williams, Chairman of Deacons, proposed to change Trinity's monthly business meetings (Church Conference) from the second Wednesday night of each month to the third Sunday evening of each month.
The reason for the change is so that more persons will be able to participate in decision making and be more informed on the the issues presented in Church Conference. As explained by Mr. Williams, many persons are unable to attend Wednesday business meetings because of work obligations and for the fact that so many church members are involved in Children's and Youth Programs, Drama and Choir Practices and other programs on Wednesdays. Changing the meeting time to Sunday evenings allow more of Trinity's members to participate in conference procedures, stay involved and stay informed.
After some discussion, the change was approved by The Church and Church Conference will now be held on the third Sunday of each month during the evening worship service at 6:00 PM in the auditorium. (N.B. June's conference will actually be held on the fourth Sunday of June in response to Father's Day. This is a change from regular scheduling.)
For some time now, the Pastor and Church Deacons have realized that because of the growth in membership at Trinity, new members do not get the chance to understand how Trinity truly functions in business, missions, and leadership. Mr. Williams proposed that persons desiring membership at Trinity should attend a four week church orientation class to familiarize them of the beliefs, functions, and Church Life. Persons wishing to join Trinity would not be accepted as members until they finish the orientation class.
In addition, the proposal included a resolution that changes the eligibility of certain members to be able to vote in Church Conference. "No church member under the age of twelve (12), and no member that has not been active in church for at least three (3) years shall be eligible to vote." This means that members that are inactive for a period of three (3) years or more at Trinity will not be able to vote in Church Conference.
The Church encourages all members to share their views in Church Conference but agrees that members who are inactive in Church for 3 years may lack the understanding of certain principles and knowledge on certain issues to be able to make the best decision when voting. There was no discussion by The Church, and the resolution was adopted unanimously.
Though we don’t change for the sake of change, often change is necessary for the improvement of ministry. Several changes will take place at Trinity over the next few weeks…all for the better. Improved nursery facilities, Church orientation and new member classes, and a change in Church business meetings will make it possible for more people to be involved in ministry, education, and church business. The nursery improvements will make our children more secure and provide more space for growth and development.
Our first Church orientation will take place in the fall and will involve the entire church in Sunday Evening services. The orientation classes for new members will begin in the spring of the year. The classes will include (1) Who we are (2) Baptist Distinctives and (3) Ministry Opportunities available at Trinity.
We look forward to implementing these changes in order to make ministry better and serve our Lord with greater impact.
What an exciting time to be a member of Trinity!

Church Nursery Remodeling Project (May Conference Details)
Released: 23 May 2008 - 8:00 AM
On the recommedation of the Pastor and Church Deacons, Mr. C.J. Williams, Chairman of Deacons, introduced at Trinity's May business meeting a plan to remodel the nursery area to create a "secure zone" and to add additional space. As explained by Joe Eason, Pastor, the nursery has grown to a point that overcrowding is now occuring each Sunday. The Church voted unanimously to begin construction.
The new nursery facilities will be modernized and new security procedures will be introduced, including a check-in/check-out system for the safety of Trinity's youngest. "Parent Alert" and "Child Protect" are new safety and security progams developed by Bryant Watson, Director of Security, in cooperation and on the advice of Carolyn Fitzgerald, Director of Childcare. More details on these programs will be made available soon.
The remodeling of the nursery area will include the installation of new restrooms within the secure zone, and the addition of an accessible entrance with a small lobby area from the parking area next to the church office entrance. The parking area near the accessible entrance will be designated for parents with nursery-aged children and senior adults or the disabled who wish to park close to room 120.
To view a rough rendering of the remodeling project, click here (.jpg image, not to scale). It is the intention that the construction project be complete by the end of the summer.

New Safety & Security Procedures to be Implemented
Released: 25 April 2008 - 12 Noon
Trinity takes the safety and security of your children very seriously. As our church continues to grow, we must make changes and new policies relating to certain procedures in working with children under the age of 12.
Trinity’s Security Program, a team of professionally trained persons with medical and safety expertise, will enhance our protective services for Trinity’s youngest. As early as on the first day of June, Trinity will introduce new procedures in the handling of the check-in and check-out process of infants and children in the nursery and of students arriving and departing for weekly Children’s Programs (including Vacation Bible School). Certain new visible changes will soon be made available, such as:
- the replacement of the current nursery beeper system to “Parent Alert”, in which a number is associated with a nursery child and displayed on the Big Screen if the child should become upset. The small number will be displayed in the corner of the screen in a non-distracting way. (We realize that the beeper system did not always function correctly, and we are glad that Parent Alert will assure parents of their child’s safety.)
- a new ID and badge system to manage the arrival and departure of all children and the identification of persons allowed to pick up your child. This system will also provide information of a child’s special needs (such as food allergies, etc.) to nursery staff and security team members. The ID and badge system will be known as “Child Protect” and will not be an inconvenience to parents, but rather an extra layer of protection for children at our growing church.
- an in-house background screening system for all volunteers working with children and young adults under the age of 18 and all church staff members. While all persons who care for or volunteer in any way with Trinity’s children are subject to criminal background screenings at any time under state of Georgia law (O.C.G.A. §35-3-34 [d.2]) and U.S. law (Freedom of Information Act or FOIA), it is costly and time consuming on the part of the Church Office for local authorities to handle the screenings. The Church Office, under strict privacy guidelines, will soon be able to process criminal background checks and receive updated records on individuals instantly. The background check will be compulsory for all volunteers working with children and all church staff. The background screening at Trinity will be associated with Child Protect.
Children’s safety is a great concern for all of us at Trinity and these proactive procedures and prevention measures are in-line with other churches our size. Please contact security@nevilstrinity.org if you should have any questions or concerns.
Informational brochures will be made available soon and more details will be provided on this website under the children's section.
